about
Nurse to the Rescue was founded in 2016 by Dalene Jordaan together with a close friend, initially offering first aid training and primary healthcare services. Over time, it grew into a structured mission dedicated to equipping caregivers, supporting families and improving standards of elderly and dementia care within the community.
Who are we
our story
Nurse to the Rescue was founded in 2016 by Dalene Jordaan, a professional nurse with many years of experience in first aid, caregiver training and residential care management.
The organisation was established alongside a close friend, Leonie Enslin, with an initial focus on first aid training and primary healthcare. Through daily interaction with families and caregivers, it became clear how often people were left to manage complex care situations without sufficient guidance, preparation or support.
Dalene recognised that the quality of care — whether at home or in a facility — depends on the knowledge, confidence and structure provided to the caregiver. This conviction led to a strong emphasis on practical, real-world training and the development of structured caregiver education programmes.
As the organisation grew, further partnerships contributed significantly to its development. With the involvement of Leonie and Russell Coetzee, Nurse to the Rescue expanded into residential care, establishing safe and supportive environments for elderly residents living with Alzheimer’s disease and related conditions.
Over more than a decade, Nurse to the Rescue has supported families, students and organisations with practical training and structured care. The contributions of dedicated partners helped build the foundation on which the organisation stands today — and that legacy continues in the calm, dignified environment of our carehome.
As the needs of families evolved, so did our vision. Today, Nurse to the Rescue operates with a focused commitment to boutique dementia care, structured caregiver training and sustainable support systems that prioritise safety, dignity and excellence.
Today, Nurse to the Rescue focuses on improving the caregiving journey through:

Founder & Director
DALENE JORDAAN
Dalene Jordaan is a professional nurse, educator and the founder of Nurse to the Rescue. With extensive experience in first aid training, caregiver development and dementia care management, she has spent more than a decade working closely with families, students and care teams across different care settings.
Her approach combines clinical knowledge with practical application. She believes that excellence in care is not achieved through theory alone, but through structured training, consistency and a deep respect for human dignity.
As director, facilitator and nurse within the carehome, Dalene remains actively involved in maintaining the standards on which Nurse to the Rescue was built. Her focus is not growth for its own sake, but sustainable systems that protect both caregivers and the people in their care.
A Personal Reflection
Dementia care is not just a professional field for Dalene — it is deeply personal.
Having walked the journey of Alzheimer’s disease within her own family, she understands the emotional weight, confusion and complexity that families face. She has seen how misunderstanding, lack of preparation and limited support can deeply affect both the person living with dementia and those who care for them.
These experiences strengthened her conviction that families deserve clarity, structure and guidance — and that caregivers deserve proper training and preparation before stepping into complex care roles.
This personal perspective continues to shape the calm, structured and dignity-centred approach that defines Nurse to the Rescue today.
our core
values
Our values are not just words — they are behaviours we expect, teach and measure every day.
DIGNITY
-ALWAYS
We honour the worth of every person, especially the vulnerable, by delivering care that respects identity, autonomy and humanity — even when memory, independence and health decline.
PRACTICAL
CARE THAT WORKS
We believe care must be useful, realistic and applicable. Whether training a caregiver, supporting a family or packing a CareBox, our solutions must work in real life, not just on paper.
COMPETENCE BUILDS CONFIDENCE
Quality care depends on knowledge and skill. We are committed to clear training, ongoing learning and high standards, because confident caregivers provide safer, better care.
COMPASSION WITH BOUNDARIES
We care deeply — but professionally. Our compassion is guided by ethics, accountability and respect for roles, protecting caregivers, families and those receiving care.
CONSISTENCY CREATES TRUST
Trust is built through reliable routines, clear communication and consistent standards — in residential care, training, workshops and resources alike.
SUPPORT THE
CAREGIVER
Caregivers cannot pour from an empty cup. We value caregiver wellbeing, emotional resilience and support, knowing that supported caregivers provide better care.
RESPONSIBILITY
TO ACT
We act with integrity, take ownership of our role, and respond when care is needed — because doing the right thing at the right time protects dignity, health and lives.
rebrand
How did we
get here?
As Nurse to the Rescue enters its next chapter, the focus has become more intentional and refined.
The organisation has restructured to concentrate on two core pillars: boutique dementia care and high-quality caregiver training. By operating on a smaller, more manageable scale within the residential setting, greater attention can be given to individual residents while maintaining a structured environment for practical student training.
The recent rebranding reflects this renewed clarity of purpose — calm, professional and rooted in dignity.
Looking ahead, Nurse to the Rescue remains committed to building sustainable systems that support families, strengthen caregivers and raise the standard of dementia care through education and practical guidance.
Because every act of care matters.
